Over 600 gallons of diesel spill into Columbia River in Washington

The Department of Ecology said a train derailed near Wallula, spilling diesel onto the riverbank and into the Columbia River.

WALLULA, Wash. — Around 660 gallons of diesel spilled into the Columbia River on Wednesday.

According to the Washington State Department of Ecology, a Union Pacific train derailed along the Columbia River near Wallula, Washington. The Department of Ecology said around 660 gallons of diesel spilled onto the riverbank and into the Columbia River.

Crews are working to contain the spill and are tracking its spread down the river.
