PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland Timbers midfielder Evander was selected to the 2024 MLS All Star team becoming the first Timbers player to make the All-Star team since Diego Chara in 2019.

Evander was selected by MLS All-Star head coach Wilfried Nancy, becoming one of the 30 players to represent the MLS during their competition against LIGA MX.

LIGA MX is top league of Mexico, and the MLS All Star team will be playing against a lineup of their best players. Last year the MLS All-Star team played against top English Premier League side, Arsenal, where the All-Stars were defeated 5-0.

Since signing with Portland in 2023, Evander has racked up 18 goals in 16 assists across 44 appearances with the Timbers.

This season, through 17 matches, the Brazilian international has nine goals and 11 assists, tied in the MLS for the third most assists on the season behind only Lionel Messi and Luciana Acosta. Evander's 20 goal contributions also rank fifth most in the MLS.

Evander has also set a new club single-season record of registering a goal and assist in the same match seven times already.

Evander becomes just the ninth Timbers player to be named to the All-Star team, joining the likes of Timbers legends Diego Valeri, and Diego Chara.

Before the MLS All-Star game kicks-off, Evander and the other members of the All-Star team will take place in the All-Star Skills Challenge, where the players will take turns competing in various passing, dribbling and shooting games.

The MLS All-Star game will take place on July 24 in Columbus, Ohio at Lower.com Field, the home of the Columbus Crew.
