PORTLAND, Ore. — The father of Portland Timbers coach Gio Savarese died in Italy on Saturday morning.
The team said Savarese was able to visit his father in Italy earlier this week. Carlo Savarese was 73 years old.
The Timbers said Savarese still plans to coach the team during Saturday night’s game against the Colorado Rapids.
