PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland Thorns completed a trade with Racing Louisville on Wednesday, acquiring forward Reilyn Turner, the sixth overall draft pick in the 2024 NWSL Draft.
Portland sent forward Janine Beckie, who played the past three seasons for the Thorns, to Racing Louisville.
Turner, 21, has four goals and two assists in 16 matches. In college, she led UCLA to a national championship in 2022. In four seasons at UCLA, she had 42 goals and 15 assists and was named Pac-12 Forward of the Year her senior season.
"Reilyn is an exciting young prospect who has adapted well to the league," said Karina LeBlanc, general manager and president of soccer operations for the Thorns. "She has proven that she can score goals at this level, and will help bolster our attack. We are excited for her to continue to grow and find success as a member of the Thorns."
In three seasons with the Thorns, Beckie scored three goals and had four assists.
"Not only is Janine a top player, but she’s a top human who makes everyone around her better," LeBlanc said. "Her impact to this club and this city will not be forgotten. We wish her nothing but the best and look forward to seeing what she does in Louisville."
The Thorns resume regular-season competition Saturday. They'll be on the road to face Gotham FC, and return to Providence Park for an Aug. 30 match against Bay FC.
