One of Portland’s most iconic female soccer players now has her own Barbie doll.

Christine Sinclair is one of nine female athletes that Mattel is honoring with a doll in their likeness. Mattel partnered with Voice in Sport for the series, a digital sport platform founded by a former Nike VP dedicated to keeping girls in sports.

Sinclair, of the Thorns, has starred in the game for two decades-plus. At 40-years-old, she played in her first match with the Canadian National Team in 2000, is an Olympic gold medalist, two-time Olympic bronze medalist and has been honored as Canada’s Soccer Player of the Year 14 times.

She is also the world's all-time leader for international goals scored for men or women with 190 goals. Sinclair has played for the Portland Thorns every year since the team's 2013 inception.

"As a young girl and now a mother of a young girl in sports, unlocking access to professional athlete mentors on the Voice in Sport platform with Team Barbie is a dream come true,” said Voice in Sport’s founder, Stef Strack, in a press release. “We built Voice in Sport to bring more visibility to women athletes globally so that girls around the world would be inspired to dream big and build confidence to stay in the game.”

Last year, Strack worked with The Sports Bra, the world’s first women's sports-focused bar in Portland, on an initiative to raise the pay of Women's World Cup athletes called Side of Equity
