PARIS, France — Bowerman Track Club Runner Mohammed Ahmed placed fourth in the men's 10,000-meter final at the Paris Olympics on Friday with a time of 26:43.79. Ahmed is representing team Canada at Olympics.
Ugandan runner Joshua Cheptegei won the race after a late surge saw him overtake numerous runners to finish with a time of 26:43.14.
U.S. runner Grant Fisher, who formerly ran for Bowerman Track Club, took home bronze, finishing mere moments after Cheptegei with a time of 26:43.46 — also only .0003 seconds after Berihu Aregawi of Ethiopia.
Bowerman Track Club runs out of Eugene. Ahmed has been to four Olympic Games and placed second at the Tokyo Games in 2021.
Former University of Portland runner Woody Kincaid also participated in the 10,000-meter race and finished in 16th place, running a time of 27:29.40. This was Kincaid's second Olympic appearance in the 10,000-meter race. He placed 15th at the 2021 Tokyo Games.
During the Tokyo Olympics, Kincaid also competed in the 5,000-meter race. However, he did not qualify for the event this year.
At the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Team Trials in Eugene, Kincaid placed second behind Fisher with a time of 27:50.74.
