PORTLAND, Ore. -- Four-time Olympic fencing medalist Mariel Zagunis visited with patients at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.
The Portland native is the most decorated U.S. women’s fencer ever. She showed off her four medals to the kids at the hospital.
Most were surprised at how heavy they are. Zagunis calls the medals her “hardware."
She’s visited children’s hospitals before and said the children are an inspiration for her.
“What they’re going through every day is a battle much more difficult than I could ever imagine. It’s inspiring to me to meet them and hear their stories," Zagunis said.
