PORTLAND, Ore. — Former University of Oregon Duck golfer Wyndham Clark was named to Team USA for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Clark will join Masters champion Scottie Scheffler, who's currently ranked as the top player in the world, in representing the United States, along with defending Olympic gold medalist Xander Schauffele and two-time major champion Collin Morikawa.
The former U.S. Open champion is ranked fifth in the world, according to the Official World Golf Ranking used to determine Olympic bids. All players ranked among the top 15 in the world gain automatic spots, but no more than four players are allowed per country.
In the case of Team USA, all four golfers are ranked within the top seven players in the world, according to OWGR.
The Olympics men's tournament is Aug. 1-4. The competition will be an individual stroke-play tournament over four days, similar to the PGA Tour or major championship events.
Clark has struggled a bit this season so far, missing cuts in two of the past three major events. However, he did win at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, a PGA Tour stop, and had a runner-up finish at the Players Championship, where Clark tied with fellow Team USA teammate Schauffele.
