Beaverton's Cameron Brink qualifies for Paris Olympics representing Team USA

Brink, a star rookie for the Los Angeles Sparks, was a prep star at Southridge High and Mountainside High in Beaverton.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Cameron Brink will be heading to Paris this summer after qualifying to be on Team USA's 3-on-3 women's team for the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Brink, the star rookie for the Los Angeles Sparks, was born and raised in Beaverton and starred at Southridge High School and Mountainside High School. She was just one of 17 players to earn an invite to the three-day 2024 USA 3x3 Women’s National Team training camp in Springfield, Massachusetts in April.

She'll be on the 3-on-3 team roster with Cierra Burdick, Rhyne Howard and Hailey Van Lith. Brink, Burdick and Van Lith were all on the 2023 USA 3x3 Women's National Team, and they won the 2023 FIBA 3x3 World Cup. Burdick was also on the U.S. squad that won gold in 2014.

“I’m so grateful to be selected, and it’s an honor to represent the United States at the Paris Olympics this year,” said Brink in a statement made through the Los Angeles Sparks. “The 3×3 training camp experience helped me with my transition into the league, and now, I can’t wait to start preparing for the games with Cierra, Rhyne and Hailey.”

Jennifer Rizzotti, president of the WNBA's Connecticut Sun, will be head coach for the team. She'll be assisted by Tammi Reiss from the University of Rhode Island.

“I say this all the time but there is no greater privilege than to represent the USA at the Olympics,” said Rizzotti. “We understand that challenge in front of us as we face tremendous talent and experienced 3x3 teams. I am confident this roster gives us what we need to compete for another gold medal with experience, versatility and a commitment to USA Basketball excellence. I cannot wait to get started.”

Brink's ticket to Paris came during a whirlwind few months for the 22-year-old. In April, Brink was drafted by the Los Angeles Sparks as the No. 2 overall pick in the WNBA draft.

Brink was named MVP of the 2023 FIBA 3x3 Women’s World Cup after helping USA to the gold medal. This will be her first Olympic games.

In her senior season at Stanford, the 6-foot-4 Brink led the Cardinal to the Sweet 16. She averaged 17.4 points, 11.9 rebounds and 3.7 blocks, which led the nation. Brink ranks 14th all-time with 424 career blocks. She was named Naismith Defensive National Player of the Year as a senior.
