Payton Pritchard to host 2 youth basketball camps in West Linn, Camas

The former Oregon Duck and now NBA champion will host two youth camps, at Rosemont Ridge Middle School in West Linn and Liberty Middle School in Camas, Washington.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Former Oregon Duck, West Linn native and now Boston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard will be hosting two youth basketball camps across the Portland area beginning on July 30.

Pritchard will be returning to Portland this summer after winning the NBA Finals with the Celtics this past season to host his camps, where he'll demonstrate to the kids the level of hard work it takes to become an NBA champion.

"We're going to show a lot of these kids the drills, and I want them to see with their own eyes how I go at it and how hard I work so they can see it," Pritchard said.

Pritchard told KGW he hopes kids can take away from his camps the attention to detail and work ethic it takes to be a champion.

"Hopefully they can apply it to whatever they decide to do, basketball or anything," he said. "But obviously having fun and competing a little bit and going out there and just playing ball."

The proceeds from the camp will go to the Payton Pritchard Family Foundation. Pritchard stressed to KGW how important it is to give back.

"We started to give back to certain communities that we think need help, and really for kids, it's important wanting to give back," he said.

The camps will take place at Rosemont Ridge Middle School in West Linn on July 30 for kids in third through fifth grade in the morning and sixth through eighth in the afternoon.

The second camp will be held at Liberty Middle School in Camas, Washington on July 31 with the same time slots.

Pritchard also told KGW there will be a few "special guests" making an appearance at the camp.
