PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland Trail Blazers rookie Scoot Henderson and second-year player Shaedon Sharpe were both selected to the NBA Rising Stars teams for this year's NBA All-Star weekend, the league announced Wednesday.
Henderson, 19, is averaging 12.2 points, 4.6 assists and 2.9 rebounds per game. He ranks fifth in scoring and first in assists among rookies. Sharpe, 20, is averaging 15.9 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.9 assists and nearly a steal per game in 33.1 minutes per game. He ranks third in scoring among second-year players.
Sharpe hasn't played since Jan. 11 with a right abdominal strain. He's set to be re-evaluated sometime this week, but it's unclear if he'll be healthy enough to participate in All-Star festivities. He was left off the roster for the Rising Stars game last season as a rookie.
The Rising Stars game will be played during All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis on Friday, Feb. 16 at 6 p.m. PT. It will air on TNT.
