Report: Blazers trading Jake Layman to Minnesota

Layman is coming off the best season of his young career. He will reportedly sign a three-year deal with Minnesota.

PORTLAND, Ore. — A busy offseason for the Portland Trail Blazers continued on Wednesday.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports the Minnesota Timberwolves have acquired forward Jake Layman in a sign-and-trade with the Blazers.

Layman will sign a three-year, $11.5 million contract with the Timberwolves, according to Wojnarowski.

NBC Sports Northwest's Dwight Jaynes reports the Blazers will receive the rights to European forward Bojan Dubljevic, who was selected by Minnesota in the 2013 draft but has never played in the NBA. The Blazers also created a $1.8 million trade exception.

Layman was the only remaining free agent for Portland. The Blazers offered him a $1.9 million qualifying offer, making him a restricted free agent, so the Blazers had the right to match any contract offered if he signed with another team.

Layman is coming off the best season of his young career. He averaged 7.6 points and 3.1 rebounds while playing 18.7 minutes per game, all career highs.

On Thursday, Layman tweeted out a message of thanks to Portland fans, coaches, teammates and the front office, and said he's excited for "this next chapter" in Minnesota.

It’s the latest move in what has been a busy offseason for the Blazers. Here’s a look at how the roster has changed:

Free agents Enes Kanter (Celtics), Al-Farouq Aminu (Magic) and Seth Curry (Mavericks) signed with other teams.
