PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland Trail Blazers have signed free agent Devonte' Graham to a one-year deal. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN was first to report the deal on Tuesday. The Blazers confirmed the signing Wednesday.
Sean Highkin of the Rose Garden Report confirmed the deal and said that because Portland already has the maximum number of roster spots filled at 15, "it would appear this is a non-guaranteed (training) camp deal." Aaron Fentress of The Oregonian reported that Graham's contract is not guaranteed.
The Blazers did not disclose terms of the deal, per team policy.
Graham, 29, is a 6-foot-1 guard who's averaged 11.1 points, 4.3 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 0.8 steals in 24.9 minutes per game over a six-year NBA career, shooting 37.1% from the field, 35.4% from the 3-point line and 81.2% from the free-throw line.
On offense, Graham scores most of his points from the 3-point line. About 68% of his field-goal attempts over his career have been 3-point attempts. In their news release announcing the signing, the Blazers reported that Graham is one of eight players in NBA history with at least 1,000 assists and 700 3-pointers through their first 300 games.
Graham's best season was his second in the league. In the 2019-20 season, he averaged 18.2 points, 7.5 assists and 3.4 rebounds for the Charlotte Hornets and finished fifth in voting for most improved player. He shot 37.3% on 9.3 attempts from 3 that season.
Last season, Graham played in just 23 games for the Spurs, averaging 5.0 points and 2.1 assists in 13.6 minutes per game, shooting 30.1% from the 3-point line, his worst percentage from distance since his rookie season.
