PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland Trail Blazers start the season at home against the Golden State Warriors. Wednesday's meeting is the first of the season between the squads.

NEW PLAYERS TO WATCH

  • Portland has two new players this season, Deni Avdija, who will start at small forward after averaging 14.7 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists last season in Washington, and rookie center Donovan Clingan, who averaged 8.8 points, 11.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in 20.5 minutes per game during the preseason and will be the backup to starter Deandre Ayton.
  • Golden State said goodbye to Klay Thompson this past offseason brought in several new players, including shooting guard Buddy Hield, who shot 48.7% on almost seven 3-point attempts during the in preseason, as well as reserve guard De'Anthony Melton (9.0 points, 3.4 assists in preseason) and reserve forward Kyle Anderson (4.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists in preseason).
