PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland Trail Blazers are showing support for a coach who was seriously injured in a car crash.
Jonathan Yim is the team's video coordinator and development coach. He was driving his SUV with his mother, sister and brother-in-law when he crashed into a semi-truck. Yim has been in the hospital with serious injuries since that accident.
His sister was released from the hospital on Tuesday.
Yim always wears bow ties for games. So, to show support for Yim the entire Blazers coaching staff wore bow ties during the team's Game 2 win Wednesday in Denver.
Players and coaches have been in contact with him while he’s in Portland recovering.
Blazers forward Maurice Harkless says he’s a big part of the team.
“Just emotional, he’s the emotional guy on the team. He provides good energy, he’s a very, very hard worker, he’s a big part of our team,” said Harkless.
Harkless said the team has been texting with him while they’ve been on the road.
