Canby teen wins gold at powerlifting world championships

Havvy Erich began powerlifting when she was 14 and fell in love with the sport.

CLACKAMAS, Ore. — Havvy Erich is one of the best young powerlifters in the world. She just got back from the International Powerlifting Federation’s World Classic Championship in Sweden.

It’s the biggest event in powerlifting and Erich came through with amazing results. She won the gold medal in the bench press, silver in the deadlift and bronze overall.

Erich started powerlifting when she was 14. She got a gym membership for her birthday and started working out with her dad.

She decided to give powerlifting and fell in love with the sport.

Erich trains at the Kabuki Strength Lab in Clackamas.

Next up for her is the Nationals in October and she hopes to return to the World Championships next year.
