PORTLAND, Ore. — A months-long blackout of the Big Ten Network on Comcast is over and just in time for another game-filled weekend.

“We’re pleased the Big Ten Network will be available to Xfinity TV customers who subscribe to the Popular TV package in Oregon, Washington, and California in time for the action this weekend,” Comcast said Thursday.

A carriage dispute between Comcast/Xfinity and the Big Ten Network, owned by Fox, left customers on the West Coast in the dark since the start of the college football season. Notably, fans were not amused particularly since the news of the blackout dropped just days before the season was set to kick off.

A spokesperson for the Big Ten Network at the time said that Comcast/Xfinity was the "one distribution partner" that declined to expand their coverage when the conference added the four West Coast schools: UCLA, USC, University of Oregon and University of Washington.

Comcast said it was in discussions with FOX and the Big Ten Network in finding a solution that makes the games available to people who want to watch them, but doesn't force those to pay for content they don't watch.

Comcast/Xfinity customers with the basic tier along the West Coast will now have access to the Big Ten Network events that are non-network games.

Right now, Oregon doesn't have any games scheduled on the Big Ten Network, but several games have not yet been assigned to a TV network.

The highly-anticipated Oregon Ducks and Ohio State game at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday will be on NBC, followed by KGW Special Edition News that will recap all the action.
