OREGON CITY -- A 19-year-old woman who was left in critical condition on an Oregon City roadway after being hit by a car Wednesday evening died Thursday night.
The manner of her death remained unclear, police said Friday morning.
Christina Harmon was visiting friends and then left just after 9 p.m. to walk to her grandfather's house.
A passing driver found her on Beavercreek Road, near Red Soil Court, about 10:15, and used her car to shield Harmon until emergency crews arrived, said Sgt. Patrick Lynch.
Police Friday identified a driver who struck her, but said Harmon had already been down on the roadway when she was hit. The driver was cooperating with police, Lt. Bill Kler in a prepared statement.
He said Harmon had a blood alcohol level of .094 but he fell short of making that a direct connection to the circumstances of her death.
He said there was no evidence at the crash scene that another vehicle was involved.
We are seeking information as to why she was in the roadway, he said.
The Clackamas Community College student was in the roadway near a TriMet shelter but it was unclear whether she was waiting for a bus, said Sgt. Lynch. Her purse and backpack were on the shelter's bench, according to KXL.
A family friend told KGWThursday that Harmon was on life support until her death.
Anyone who passed through the area near that hour was asked to call Oregon City police.
Meantime, investigators were talking to business owners nearby, to determine if there may be surveillance video that could help their case.
