PORTLAND, Ore. — One will move a few blocks away to Southwest Third and Stark.
One's already up and running in a new location
One's shutting down entirely.
And quite a few still don't know what's in their future.
They are the owners and staff at the various food carts in the renowned pod at Southwest 10th Avenue and Southwest Alder Street.
The possibility that the carts would be displaced by new development has been in the background for a long time, but even more so after BPM Real Estate Group first announced its plans for a 35-story mixed-use tower on the site in 2018. Plans for that tower, which will include a five-star hotel, 180,000 square feet of office space and nearly 140 luxury condos, have progressed steadily since then. And late last month, the carts got notices from City Center Parking that they'd need to vacate by June 30 to make way for the development.

With that deadline looming just about three weeks away, we wondered what the carts might have in mind for their next chapter. So, we went out and asked them.
