AMITY, Ore -- A very rare two-faced kitten born in Amity, Ore. Tuesday morning died Thursday, her owners said.
Deucy was born with two faces, one body and an apparently healthy set of organs, veterinarians said. But she died Thursday from health complications.
Her owner, Stephanie Durkee, called KGWto say Deucy died peacfully in the morning.
Deucy was rejected by her mother, so Durkee had been feeding her every two hours with a syringe.
Durkee's vet said he was aware of only four of five such kittens, known as Janus cats, to live to adulthood, with the oldest known living to 12 years old.
There were two other kittens in the litter that survived.
