PORTLAND - Police have made two arrests in connection with the December 2015 homicide of 21-year-old Kyle Polk.

A Portland Police Bureau news release reports that on Tuesday, 20-year-old Javier Fernando Hernandez, of Vancouver, Wash., was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of murder, attempted aggravated murder, attempted murder, and unlawful use of a weapon (two counts).

Hernandez was arraigned on Wednesday. He was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Oregon Fugitive Task Force in Troutdale, Oregon.

Wednesday in court, he let his attorney do the talking, and pleaded not guilty. He'll be back in court Oct. 4 at 9 a.m.

On Friday August 19, 46-year-old Cynthia Anne Scholer, also of Vancouver, was arrested and booked into the Clark County Jail on charges of hindering prosecution (six counts) and tampering with physical evidence. Scholer was released on bail and will be arraigned in Multnomah County Court on Thursday.

This investigation started on Dec. 16, 2015, when East Precinct officers responded to the report of a shooting at Southeast 112th Avenue and Division Street.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and located Kyle Polk suffering from traumatic injuries. Lifesaving efforts were not successful and Polk died at the scene.
