PORTLAND, Ore. — Eddie the 20-year-old basketball dunking otter died at the Oregon Zoo in 2018. Though he can't be replaced, another otter is taking up the dunking mantle.
Juno, a 5-year-old otter, was trained, hopefully with a Rocky-style montage, to dunk like Eddie.
Eddie was taught to dunk to help his elbow arthritis and trainers believe that as Juno gets older, the training could be helpful to her too. He lived to be one of the oldest known sea otters, so here's hoping Juno lives a long, healthy, life full of dunks.
