YACOLT, Wash. — A Yacolt, Washington man who pleaded guilty to a felony charge of civil disorder for his role in the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol has been sentenced to four months.
On Tuesday, a judge sentenced 36-year-old Benjamin Silva to four months, followed by 24 months of supervised release with conditions. He is also required to pay $2,000 in restitution.
Silva was seen in video footage with a crowd of rioters confronting police near an entrance on the Lower West Terrace of the Capitol building — known as "the tunnel." Court documents said that even when the rioters left, Silva fought to continue to press against police.
Silva was arrested in Oregon in July 2023 and pleaded guilty to a felony charge of civil disorder in April.
