PORTLAND, Oregon — Nike's co-founder and retired CEO Phil Knight is continuing his political giving with a $2 million donation to a right-leaning political action committee.
Bring Balance to Salem PAC reported the donation, which Knight made Feb. 15, according to Oregon campaign finance records.
The gift was not the first time Knight has given to the group, which supports Republican candidates for the Oregon Legislature. He also made a $2 million donation in April 2023.
The recent donation was reported by the Oregonian and Willamette Week on Monday.
Knight was an active donor in the last election cycle, giving $1.5 million to Republican candidate for governor Christine Drazan after previously supporting unaffiliated candidate Betsy Johnson with $3.75 million.
With an estimated $40 billion, Knight is the richest resident of Oregon. Forbes placed him at 25th among the world's richest people on its 2023 ranking.
Last April, Knight pledged $400 million to revitalize Portland's Albina neighborhood, a gift that earned him a place on the Chronicle of Philanthropy's list of largest donations in 2023.
