PORTLAND, Ore. — Incumbent Kurt Schrader beat Milwaukie Mayor Mark Gamba to win Democratic primary for Oregon’s fifth congressional district

It was pragmatic versus progressive in the battle to win Oregon’s Fifth Congressional District. Schrader bested Gamba to win the democratic primary.

The fifth district is one of the most politically and geographically diverse districts in the state including parts of Portland, Marion County and sweeping out to the Oregon coast.

Schrader has represented the district since he was first elected in 2008 and goes on to try to win a seventh term. Before being elected to Congress, he was a farmer and veterinarian.
