In nonpartisan races, a candidate who receives over 50% of the vote will win outright in this May primary election. If no candidate can claim a majority once all valid ballots are counted, the race will go to a runoff in November between the top two vote-getters.

Results are expected starting at 8 p.m. Ballots will continue to be counted and the story will be updated as additional vote totals come in.

Board of Commissioners

A total of three county board seats are up for election this year, including the at-large chair position. All three featured incumbents running for reelection and attempting to stave off challengers: Chair Tootie Smith, Commissioner Martha Schrader and Commissioner Mark Shull.

Clackamas County Commissioner, Position 1

In early results as of 10 p.m. Tuesday night, former sheriff Craig Roberts led incumbent Chair Tootie Smith, 51% to 38%.
