MADRAS, Ore. -- The pilot of a Stearman biplane died after his plane crashed during an airshow in Madras, Oregon.
The pilot, 61-year-old Marcus Paine, from Anchorage, Alaska, died when his biplane crashed during an initial loop shortly after takeoff at the Airshow of the Cascades at Madras Airport on Saturday afternoon.
"The FAA was at the airshow and will be conducting a thorough investigation of the crash," Jefferson County Sheriff Jim Adkins told KTVZ.
Adkins said the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and Madras Police are also collaborating on the investigation.
According to KTVZ and the air show's website, Paine was a skilled instructor and had been a pilot for 20 years.
