WOODBURN, Ore. -- A man was hit and killed at Highway 99E and Mount Jefferson Street in Woodburn on Tuesday night, police said.
Praxedis Gonzalez, 66, was struck by two vehicles at around 7 p.m. He apparently had just left a grocery store and was pushing a cart across the highway when hit, said Sg. John Mikkola.
Neither of the vehicles fled and the incident doesn't appear to be criminal in nature, he said. Drivers remained at the scene.
Investigators said it was raining heavily in the area at the time of the crash. The man was not in a designated crosswalk. The speed limit in that stretch is 35 mph, he said.
The highway was partially closed during the investigation.
