FORESTGROVE, Ore. --Six months ago Tom and Susan Robinson had to make an agonizing decision.
Their daughters had been killed in a hit-and-run accident in front of their home.
Anna Dieter-Eckerdt, 6, died at the scene, Abby, 11, died later at a hospital.
Doctors told the Robinsons it would be possible to donate some of Abby's organs.
Her kidneys went to two men, her liver to a eight-year-old boy and a cornea to a nine year old from the Pacific Northwest.
Through Donate Life Northwest the Robinsons' got a note from one of the kidney recipients thanking them for their donation.
I never thought I would feel joy again, said Susan Robinson, who feels hearing from the kidney recipient has helped.
The Robinsons say they carry their girls around with them all of the time.
They say there are good days and days filled with tears, but knowing the organ donations helped save lives helps.
They believe their daughters are in heaven waiting for them.
On Saturday there is an Abigail and Abby Gifts of Life event in Forest Grove, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Forest Grove High School.
It's designed in part to get people to consider organ donation.
