PORTLAND Oregon Health and Science University announced Friday a $25 million donation from the founders of a Milwaukie natural foods company.
The founders of Bob's Red Mill, Bob and Charlee Moore, will establish an institute for nutrition and wellness at OHSU.
Its ambitious aim, said spokeswoman Tamara Hargens-Bradley, is to halt the rampant health problems caused by unhealthy eating and inadequate nutrition through cutting-edge research and community outreach.
The Moore Institute will focus on five major areas: researching developmental origins of health and disease, battling childhood obesity, improving community outreach, providing women s health and maternal medicine, and educating and training health professionals.
