Rent the Morrison Bridge lights for as little as $100 a day

Lighting underneath the Morrison Bridge is for rent, the county has announced, and Alfa Romeo sports cars lovers are the first to take part in the program.

PORTLAND, Ore. -- For as little as $100 you can rent out the lights underneath the Morrison Bridge.

Alfa Romeo sports car lovers have paid to change the bridge's lighting display to feature red, white and green in honor of the Italian flag. The group becomes the first to take part in a county program that allows individuals or groups to pay for a lighting scheme on Morrison Bridge.

Applicants can request static or moving displays of up to eight colors. For $100, an individual or group can rent the lights for a one-day static display. A two-week moving display runs $850, according to the county.

The energy-efficient LED lights used on the bridge were privately financed in 2007 and can be programmed to shimmer in a wide array of colors.

The lights are managed by Willamette Light Brigade, the non-profit that designed them. They are powered with renewable energy "donated" by Pacific Power, the county said.
