PORTLAND, Ore. — Dozens of people gathered in Sewallcrest park in Southeast Portland for an event sponsored by the Portland branch of the Democratic Socialists of America.
Local unions and other labor organizations were there in support of a cease-fire in Gaza.
I am filled with pride seeing all your faces from different places it gives me so much hope,” said Nancy Alkhouri, one of several people to speak at the rally.

Event organizer Olivia Katbi said what they want is simple. “Cease-fire now that is the main message our Congressional leaders have not called for cease fire. Hope they heed our call.”
After meeting in the park for the rally people began to walk through the neighborhood, many carrying signs calling for a cease-fire.
They are closely watching what’s happening in Gaza right now and hope something changes soon.
