WASHINGTON — While you won't find "A Charlie Brown Christmas" on TV this year, everyone can still watch the classic Peanuts holiday special for free this weekend.
The animated specials used to air on network TV around the holidays but this will be the third year in a row where you can only watch the Peanuts Christmas special on Apple TV+. The streaming service became the home to all things Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang, including the beloved holiday specials, back in 2020.
If you're already a subscriber of Apple TV+, you can watch the Peanuts specials any time you want, all season long.
Before you say "good grief," Apple has announced it'll once again make all of the Charlie Brown holiday specials available for nonsubscribers to watch for free for a couple days each.
“A Charlie Brown Christmas” will be available Saturday, Dec. 14 and Sunday, Dec. 15. “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” and "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" were briefly available for free in October and November, respectively.
The animated Christmas special surrounding the Peanuts gang is nearing its 60th anniversary, having first debuted on CBS in December 1965. It was also the first of many holiday specials that featured the characters from Charles M. Schulz's "Peanuts" comic strip.
Last year was also a special anniversary too as it marked 50 years since "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" first debuted on CBS in November 1973.
