WOODBURN, Ore. — A 17-year-old Woodburn High School student was killed in a crash early Wednesday morning, the school confirmed. The crash left two other teen passengers hospitalized: a 14-year-old boy who is also a student at Woodburn High, and a 19-year-old man.

"It is with deep sorrow that we inform you about a loss today in our school community," the Woodburn School District said in a statement to families. "We received very tragic news from the Woodburn Police that two Woodburn High School students were involved in a car crash early this morning."

Students in Woodburn are on spring break. To help students and staff, the school district said there will be a Crisis Response Team at Woodburn High School when students return to class on April 1.

Around 1:53 a.m. Wednesday, Woodburn police officers, Woodburn Ambulance Service and personnel with the Woodburn Fire District responded to the crash involving a single vehicle at North Boones Ferry Road and Vanderbeck Lane. The first responders found the 17-year-old driver dead. Police did not release the teen's name, but said in a news release that their family has been notified.

The 14-year-old boy was life-flighted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, and the 19-year-old man was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries, Woodburn police said. Neither of the passengers were publicly identified.

Speed and alcohol are believed to have been factors in the crash, according to Woodburn police.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office Crash Team is helping with the investigation.

The family has now set up a GoFundMe to help cover funeral and medical expenses.
