WOODBURN, Ore. – The Interstate 5 overpass in Woodburn will be lit blue to honor local officers who died in the line of duty.
The change of lighting on the overpass was approved Dec. 1.
In addition to fallen officers across the country, Woodburn Police Chief Jim Ferraris wanted to honor Woodburn Police Captain Tom Tennant and Oregon State Trooper Bill Hakim.
"It is important that we not forget those who have died protecting our communities, and no city knows that more than Woodburn," said Chief Ferraris. "This is an appropriate honor for Capt. Tennant and Trooper Hakim, who will never be forgotten."
The overpass lights will be blue for the entire month of December.
