SHERWOOD, Ore. — Firefighters with Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue responded to a large pile of wood waste debris that caught on fire overnight. It happened at the end of Southwest Dahlke Lane, off of Southwest Oregon Street.

People in the area may be able to see smoke as crews work to make sure the fire is fully extinguished, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue said in a post on X around 7 a.m. A KGW crew saw a plume of smoke at the scene.

An investigator determined that the fire was accidental and was most likely caused by "spontaneous combustion in the large pile of mulch," Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue said on X just before 10:30 a.m.
