PORTLAND, Ore. — An 82-year-old woman died after she was hit by a car in Southeast Portland on Thursday night.
The collision occurred at around 8:40 p.m. A driver eastbound on Southeast Foster Road struck the woman, who was crossing at an unmarked crosswalk near 71st Avenue, according to Portland police.
The woman, identified as Louanna Battams, was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. She died at the hospital Friday morning, police said.
The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

This was the 26th traffic-related fatality in Portland this year, police said. Also on Thursday night, two people were killed in a rollover crash on Interstate 405.
