MONROE, Wash — Several animals rescued by Motley Zoo Animal Rescue in Monroe are in need of medical procedures, foster homes and adoption.
For nearly 15 years the rescue has committed to its mission to end pet overpopulation which according to the rescue often results in euthanization of healthy, adoptable animals due to limited space and funds within animal welfare organizations of all sizes, locally and globally.
The rescue focuses on raising awareness through education to end abuse and neglect of all animals.
Of the animals in need, rescue executive director Jme Thomas introduced the community to two dogs while stopping by the KING 5 studios on Sunday.
Each dog was found abandoned and left near Eastern Washington shelters which Motley Zoo works with.
One of them, Sibyl, does not have use of her back legs. She was abandoned and left in a shopping bag on the ground. Sibyl needs veterinary care and a wheelchair.
The other dog, Lorelei, is in need of continued medical care after her broken jaw was repaired.
Both dogs are in need of adoption or fostering.
The rescue is fundraising for all the above needs along with other needs for other animals in their care.
Currently, the rescue has a virtual holiday 5k that people can participate in and a Giving Tuesday effort.
The nonprofit will celebrate its 15th anniversary in February with an "Anniversary Pawty."
