SPOKANE, Wash. — A federal judge dismissed challenges to Washington's new gun laws involving the sale and distribution of guns in Washington.
The National Shooting Sports Foundation tried to block Senate Bill 5078 from going into effect. The law said gun sellers must go through more steps to sell guns.
The new law makes gun sellers liable if they do not follow the new law.
“My legal team remains undefeated against the gun lobby in court,” Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson said. “This law protects Washingtonians from gun violence by ensuring that gun industry members face real accountability when their irresponsible conduct harms our communities.”
Four other states, including Delaware, New York, New Jersey and California, all passed similar gun control laws. The New York gun law also won a similar challenge in court.
Seven cases were filed against Washington's gun law in total.
