Cargo ship runs aground in the Columbia river near Skamokawa, Washington

SKAMOKAWA, Wash.-- A cargo ship ran aground in the Columbia river near Skamokawa, Washington Friday evening. The 751-foot Rosco Palm from Hong Kong left the shipping channel and ran aground about 35 miles from the mouth of the Columbia river, after picking up it's grain payload from Kalama, Wash.

SKAMOKAWA, Wash.-- A cargo ship ran aground in the Columbia river near Skamokawa, Washington Friday evening. The 751-foot Rosco Palm from Hong Kong left the shipping channel and ran aground about 35 miles from the mouth of the Columbia river, after picking up it's grain payload from Kalama, Wash.

The Coast Guard responders from Sector Columbia River investigated, and found the ship posed no environmental hazard, and was not blocking other river traffic.

A Columbia River Bar Pilot tug boat was able to assist the vessel, and pull it back into the channel late Friday.
