BEAVERTON, Ore. – A man sustained burns and his house was judged to be inhabitable after it caught fire Saturday afternoon in Beaverton.

Just after 3 p.m., a neighbor reported the house fire in the 6700 block of Southwest Briarcliff Circle, according to Cassandra Ulven of Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue.

The man and two dogs were able to get out of the home on their own, but the man sustained burns on his arms and legs, Ulven said.

Medics took the man, who was not identified, to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire after 30 minutes, and limit the fire to the one home, Ulven said. Crews spent another hour making sure hot spots in debris piles didn’t rekindle the fire.

Investigators are working on determining a cause and a damage estimate.
