Vivi's Vintage Market fights cystic fibrosis

NEWBERG, Ore. -- Christy Rimrodt's daughter Vivian was born with cystic fibrosis; a genetic disease that affects your body's digestive system and its ability to breath due to a build up of mucus in the lungs.

NEWBERG, Ore. -- Christy Rimrodt's daughter Vivian was born with cystic fibrosis; a genetic disease that affects your body's digestive system and its ability to breath due to a build up of mucus in the lungs.

While there are many treatments to help make life with cystic fibrosis more comfortable, there is no cure and the average life expectancy for a person with this condition is only 38 years old. Christy wasn't OK sitting idly by and waiting for a cure to be discovered.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is a research leader in the fight to cure this disease. Christy decided to start a fundraiser to aid their efforts. However, she wanted to do something a little bit outside the box.

As a photographer in Lake Oswego, Christy is very connected to the wedding industry. Through a mutual friend she was introduced to Erica Wegrzyniak who had recently refurbished the Old School House in Newberg. By combining Christy's connections and love of antiques with Erica's event space and desire to give back to the community, a unique event was born.

Vivi's Vintage Market will take place on May 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Old School House in Newberg. It is a collection of antique and vintage home goods dealers, brought together by a young mother, with the profits going to aid her daughter. For more information on the market visit vivisvintage.com.
