PORTLAND, Ore. — World War II veteran Sidney Walton got the chance to spend some time with Governor Kate Brown in Portland on Monday.
Walton is on a tour to meet all 50 United States governors. Brown is number 16 so far. The 99-year-old calls this his “No Regrets” tour.
He wants to raise awareness of the declining number of WWII vets and make amends for missing a chance to meet Civil War veterans in 1941.
"It was exciting meeting the governor, she’s a very nice woman,” said Walton.
Walton and his son plan to spend a few days in Oregon then hope to go to California to meet Governor Jerry Brown.
Walton has an invitation to the White House in February when he’ll turn 100.
