VANCOUVER, Wash. — Vancouver police are asking for the public's help to turn up information or video footage relating to the disappearance of 61-year-old Cristina Ase on March 26. She was last seen at around 5:30 a.m. that morning, and her husband and coworkers called police when she didn't show up for work that day.

Her absence is a highly unusual deviation from her regular pattern of behavior and police consider her disappearance suspicious in nature, according to a news release from the Vancouver Police Department (VPD). Police believe she may have gone into Oregon after leaving her residence in the Village at Cascade Park Apartments, an apartment complex along Southeast 123rd Avenue between 5th and 7th streets.

She is believed to have been driving a dark gray 2013 Toyota Rav4 with Washington plates numbered AQT1726. The vehicle was found in Vancouver on Wednesday. She may have been carrying a black and white bag or purse, but her clothing is otherwise unknown, police said.

Police are asking Oregon and Washington residents to help find video footage of Ase or her vehicle any time from 4 p.m. March 25 to 5 p.m. March 27. Police are interested in footage within a quarter mile of the following locations:

  • 501 SE 123rd Ave, Vancouver WA
  • Glenwood Park – 8800 block of SE Claybourne Street, Portland OR
  • Flavel Street & SE 92nd Ave, Portland OR

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact VPD Detective Jason Nicholson at jason.nicholson@cityofvancouver.us or Sergeant Julie Ballou at julie.ballou@cityofvancouver.us.

This is a developing story and will be updated if more information becomes available.
