VANCOUVER, Wash. — A message threatening gun violence was scrawled on a bathroom wall at Fort Vancouver High School in Vancouver, the school said in a letter sent to parents.

Vancouver Public Schools confirmed that the words, "I will kill you all on October 27th" were hand-written alongside a drawing of a gun. In response, the school sent a letter home to parents making them aware of the supposed threat. There will be extra police and district resource officers on hand to help keep students and staff safe Friday.

Here's the text of the letter sent home to parents:

Dear Fort Vancouver High School students, parents and guardians,

We were made aware of concerning writing found on the wall in a bathroom at our school. The hand-written message threatens possible gun violence at our school on Friday, 10/27.

We contacted the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) and will follow their guidance as we work together to determine the credibility of this threat.

Our students' safety and well-being are our top priority and we take all threats seriously until we are able to confirm credibility. We are working to arrange a VPD presence at the school tomorrow, and we will have extra District Resource Officers on campus as well to support and maintain the safety of our school.

We are grateful that this incident was reported to our school administrators, as we need everyone working together to keep our schools safe. If you see something, always say something.

Curt Scheidel

Principal, Fort Vancouver High School

Vancouver police said officers were investigating to see whether the threat was credible and confirmed that police would be at the school Friday.
