PORTLAND, Ore. – The Transportation Security Administration is hiring officers, and holding an event to let people know about the job.
The TSA will hire about 30 new officers, and add more later this year. Pay for the part-time positions starts at $15.96 per hour plus benefits.
The man in charge of the TSA in the state said they are hiring up ahead of the busy summer season, but for other reasons as well.
“One of the reasons we’re hiring is we’ve had a lot of our officers move to Washington, move to other locations, getting promoted," said Oregon TSA Federal Security Director Mike Irwin. "We are one of the top recruiters and promoters in the country so we’re looking for more people to come in to start their federal service."
The TSA will hold an informational event Tuesday, April 26 at the Sheraton Portland Airport Hotel. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the presentation begins at 6 p.m.
