CANBY, Ore. — Authorities have identified the three people who died in a single-car crash south of Canby on Tuesday morning.
A Chevy Malibu traveling on South Dryland Road went off the road and crashed into a group of trees at about 5 a.m. The car was split in half when deputies found it, likely from the impact with trees, said Clackamas County Sgt. Brian Jensen.
The sheriff's office said 37-year-old Anthony Brannock of Woodburn, 24-year-old Nathan Casicato of Wilsonville and 28-year-old Maxime Avgi of Woodburn died in the crash. All three were passengers.
The driver, 24-year-old Savannah Lee Perry, survived. Deputies said she was booked into jail for possession of heroin following her release from the hospital. The charge was not related to the crash, the sheriff's office said.
Speed and possible impairment are suspected factors in the crash, investigators said. No charge in connection to the crash have been announced.
Neighbors told KGW there have been several crashes in this spot, which has a dip in the road. People drive too fast on the road, they said.
"This particular spot, if you don't slow down, somebody else is going to die," said Christie Sleight, who lives in the area and said there have been five crashes there in just two years.
