Man shot by Beaverton police during standoff, jailed for attempted murder

Police took 43-year-old Daniel McNamara to the Washington County Jail on May 1.

BEAVERTON, Ore. – Beaverton police identified the man who allegedly fired at officers during a standoff on April 25.

Police took 43-year-old Daniel McNamara to the Washington County Jail on May 1 after he was released from the hospital.

McNamara faces one count of attempted murder and one count of unlawful use of a weapon.

The standoff began shortly after 11 a.m. near Southwest Farmington Road and Murray Boulevard. Officers responded to a report that McNamara was armed and causing a disturbance.

Nearby Valley Catholic Elementary, middle, and high schools were put into lockdown and extra officers were sent to the school.

Crisis negotiators were communicating with McNamara with text messages. The standoff continued until about 1:45 p.m., when shots were fired.

Police closed Farmington Road between Murray Boulevard and 150th Avenue during the incident.

An investigation is ongoing.
