UMPQUA, Ore. – A massive rockslide has closed a portion of a Southern Oregon road in Douglas County.
The rockslide closed a portion Tyee Access Road, about 15 miles west of Sutherlin.
The Oregon Department of Transportation posted a collage of images of the rockslide on Facebook.
“Southern Oregon is prone to landslides with steep slopes and weak rock and soil. Add a heavy dose of winter rain and events like this occur,” ODOT said in the post.
The rockslide comes about a month after a massive sinkhole closed part of Highway 101 in Harbor.
