OCEANSIDE, Ore. — A small rockslide covered one side of the man-made tunnel under Maxwell Mountain.
According to the Netarts Oceanside Fire District, a small rockslide at the south end of the tunnel, which is used by people to cut through the bottom of Maxwell Mountain and allows access to both Oceanside Beach and Tunnel beach.
Officials said there has been a lot of smaller rockslides but this one partially blocked the tunnel. No one was injured and everyone was able to be helped through the non obstructed side of the tunnel.
The last time a rockslide, according to officials, was in the 80s when the tunnel was completely blocked.
